TIME. Things I Must Earn.

I got into this industry in November 2020 with zero sales experience. None. I started out selling final expense — knocking doors, working the phones on internet leads that were three months old by the time I got them. If you've done that job, you know exactly what that felt like.

For a long time, I struggled. I was putting in the same hours, making the same calls, doing the same activity as everyone else around me — but I wasn't getting the same results. It didn't make sense to me, and it messed with my head more than I let on.

Then I heard an acronym that changed everything: TIME. Things I Must Earn. Results weren't going to show up just because I clocked the hours — they showed up when I actually earned them. That one shift in thinking is what got me moving. It still took two and a half years to get genuinely good at selling life insurance. And by the time I got there, I was burned out — chargebacks eating into my paycheck, talking about death all day, every day. I was ready to walk away from insurance for good.

That's when I got introduced to private health insurance, and to Mike Curry. Mike still jokes that I was the worst salesperson he ever hired — and that I'm now one of the best. Since I made the move to the private health side, I've been the top agent, and my agency has been the top agency, within AO.

I've been doing this for almost six years now. I take a lot of pride in being able to sell at a high level. I take even more pride in helping new agents get there — faster than I did, without the two and a half years of struggling I went through to figure it out.

When I started this business, my wife and I were on government assistance for food and daycare. Today, she's a stay-at-home wife — or as I like to call her, Operator of Domestic Affairs — running things at home for our 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son, and we live on 17 acres we call our own. I don't say that to brag about the acres or the paycheck. I say it because it's not really about the material things insurance can buy you — it's about the opportunity it gives you to spend your time exactly where you want to spend it.

If you're willing to put in the work and earn it, I'd love to help you get there.

Production and income figures described above are Brian’s own historical results. They are not typical, not a projection and not a guarantee of what any other agent will earn. Individual results vary based on licensing, effort, activity and market conditions. AO Financial is a Division of USA Benefits Group and contracts independent agents.
